kyoto color pastel set
The Brand: Founded in 1919, Gondola Pastels have been carefully handcrafted one by one by craftsmen in Kyoto, Japan. It was the first pastel produced in Japan and is the only manufacturer in Japan specializing in soft pastels. The soft pastels have been made by hand for over 100 years, and they currently offer 242 unique colors.
Description: The 18 colors in this set are particularly tied to the distinct seasons of Kyoto and have names such as "Wisteria Trellis in Byodoin Temple" and "Tadasu Forest Green after the Rain". You might notice that the green of the box looks like green tea. This pastel series was created to replicate the traditional colors and magical light of Kyoto. Without chalks and fillers, each pastel holds rich pigment that shows a deep saturation of color and character. A great companion for travel and outdoor sketching.
Details: 18 colors. Each pastel measures 0.8” inches in length. Box measures 3.5” x 3.5”. Non-Toxic, safety-certified by ACMI in the United States (AP seal).
A Note From Erika: This pastel set has such great colors and the names are just so good! These are messy in a good way- have fun. Apply to wet or dry paper. Easily blend colors or smudge to fade into another color. Colors will transfer, so a workable spray fixative could be helpful.
