The Brand: Using jewelry as her format, Kelly Jean Conroy explores her memories with nature as a child and observations of life cycles as a material source. Based in Boston, she considers herself equal part teacher and maker, teaching metal smithing full time at her local high school as well as jewelry courses at Haystack School of Craft, Peters Valley School of Craft, and MCAD. Description: A beautiful reminder of spring. These magnolia blossoms are hand laser etched illustrations onto mother of pearl, and the recessed drawing is then filled with ink to create a scene within the rich white surface of the pearl. It is then set in sterling silver that has been oxidized black. The mother of pearl adds an ethereal quality, as it reflects subtle iridescent hues while catching light.
