Woodcut Prints by Julie Crane
The Artist: Based in Maine, Julie Crane is a multimedia artist who primarily depicts the natural world - from microscopic forms found in the ocean to seed pods to the flight patterns of migrating birds. She has shown her work in galleries in Paris, Russia, New York City, and Santa Fe since her early 20’s. Crane’s work considers the impact of change upon our common and familiar environments, and is currently collaborating with marine laboratories observing organisms and documenting their myriad shapes.
Description: These ethereal and enchanting woodcut prints have been charming our shop walls for some time. Each image is carved by hand by Julie into a woodblock, and then printed by hand. The frame has a lovely antique feeling, and is ready to be hung on your wall at home!
Details: 7” height and 5 1/2” wide. Handprinted woodcut illustrations. Each is framed and signed.
A Note From Erika: I love Julie’s work. I’ve carried her work since the beginning days. She is a gem of a human who is deeply curious and it shows in her work. I picked a woodland theme for this group, all have a bit of fairy magic.
